| Crew Members at Biathlon Stadium Share their Olympic Experiences |
| The people in Whistler and Vancouver jokingly but lovingly call them “Smurfs” for their bright blue jackets which make them look a bit like the famous cartoon characters. Their outfit makes it easy for anyone who needs assistance to recognize them, the Olympic volunteers. About 25, 000 people from around the world, most of them from North America, came to Vancouver or Whistler to be part of the 2010 Olympic Winter Games. They took time off from work; some travelled long distances and now stay in cramped living quarters. Still, they stay friendly and welcome the many guests from around the world. They do not just experience the Olympic Spirit but they themselves are a big part of it. |
