Franz Bernreiter Retires After 40 Years in Bi...
Motivated by Fun Combined with Hard Work
Despite a very successful career the German Junior and B Team Coach, Franz Bernreiter never wanted to be in the spotlight. He was an integral part of the biathlon family until he retired after the season-ending IBU Cup at Pokljuka, which marked the end of his coaching career.

Björn Ferry Rocked Olympics and Now the Stag...
Ferry Shows His Funny Side
Björn Ferry of Sweden was one of the surprise Olympic Biathlon Champions in Whistler Olympic Park. While he seems to be a very serious athlete, Ferry showed a glimpse of his funny side right after his victory in the 12.5K Pursuit with a jump on the podium that was selected “best cheer by an Olympic Champion” by one Canadian television network. In this excerpt from an interview that will be published in the next Biathlonworld magazine (available in late May) he talks about his victory as well as the consequences of his medal. The video below from the Swedish TV-show Bingolotto offers another glimpse of his funny and very musical side.

Interview with Olga Zaitseva
After the two-year baby break, the season did not start very well for the Olympic and three-time World champion Olga Zaitseva.  However, at the World Championships in Pyeonchang, she managed to re-establish herself in the world elite of biathlon. Since then, Zaitseva has been on the pedestal after each competition. In an interview with biathlonworld.com, the 30-year-old Russian talked about her difficult comeback to the World Cup, her impatience and desire to be high up on the podium again.

Wild Fires Hit Close to Home for Australian B...
Mark Raymond’s Home, One Kilometer from Danger
While Australian Biathlete Mark Raymond competed in the World Championships here in Pyeongchang, his mind was far from the Alpensia Biathlon Stadium. It was back in his hometown of Alexandria, New South Wales in southeast Australia, where the devastating wild fires of the past several weeks came "about one kilometer from my home."
