Super Season for Sabrina Buchholz
Improvements in Shooting and Running
Last summer German Biathlete Sabrina Buchholz almost retired. That, however, was not her decision. Her employer, the German police, has certain criteria that an athlete must meet in order to be supported. Buchholz needed to perform at her best during the German National Championships last fall in order to fulfill them. She did not cave under the pressure and stayed in biathlon.

Daniel Graf: Conciliatory Season Ending
Longing for Harmony and Vacation Plans
After leading the IBU Cup Total Score for the whole season, in the end Daniel Graf made things exciting. It was not until the last competition of the season, when Toni Lang and Christoph Knie both got close to a tie that he secured the “big Vase” as Graf called it, the trophy for the Overall IBU Cup. Before that, he fought lack of motivation as German National Coach Frank Ullrich did not nominate him for the World Cup until Antholz, despite his good results. However, on that weekend of all times, Graf got sick and had to return home before the competitions started.

The IBU Cup season concluded last weekend in Pokljuka, Slovenia, with the Overall IBU Cup Champions receiving their trophies as well as the winners in the Individual, Sprint and Pursuit disciplines.

Daniel Graf Wins Overall IBU Cup with Win in ...
Daniel Graf of Germany won the last competition of the 2009-10 IBU Cup Season and at the same time won the Overall IBU Cup. On a day with beautiful sunshine, he needed 25:45.8 to complete the 10K, including one penalty loop. Second was clean-shooting Russian Dmitry Blinov, 4.5 seconds back. He was ahead of Christian Martinelli of Italy, who had two misses and was 8.1 seconds back.

Italian Surprise
IBU Cup Pursuit in Pokljuka
Christian Martinelli of Italy won the Men’s 12.5K Pursuit competition at the Pokljuka IBU Cup. He covered the course in 34:20.2, picking up just two penalties and crossed the finish line in first, 13.1 seconds ahead of Germany’s Christoph Knie. The second place finisher won the Overall Pursuit title in the IBU Cup. Knie secured his second place in a sprint to the finish with Jean Guillaume Beatrix from France, who finished a mere one-tenth of a second back. Both missed two targets.

IBU Cup Finale Starts with Sprints
First Victory for Michael Rösch
Michael Rösch won the first of two Sprint competitions at the IBU Cup finale this morning in Pokljuka, Slovenia. The German who started the season on the World Cup team was perfect at the shooting range. Second went to Lois Habert of France who matched Rösch’s shooting and finished just ahead of Toni Lang, who missed twice.

IBU Cup Finale This Weekend in Pokljuka
Graf and Buchholz Vie for Top Spots
This should have been the first big weekend of biathlon competitions in the new stadium of Pokljuka in Slovenia. However, things changed two months after the opening of the new venue when it hosted the e.on Ruhrgas IBU World Cup 3 last December. Now, IBU Cup 8 will close the biathlon season here in Pokljuka.

Sven Grossegger Runs Away with Martell Pursui...
Top Four Women Unchanged
It was the perfect competition for Sven Grossegger of Austria. His shooting was perfect in the Men’s Pursuit, as he hit all 20 targets. This helped him pass all the athletes who had started ahead of him, as they circled the penalty loop.
